Angels for Change Announce 2024 Change Maker of the Year Award.

February 4, 2025

Tampa, Fla., February 4, 2025 – Angels for Change (A4C) announces its 2024 Change Maker of the Year Award. This award is presented to individuals who have made significant strides in advocating for and securing access to essential medicines for patients, driving meaningful change in the race to end drug shortages.

This year’s honoree, Lindsey Thomas, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Fresenius Kabi USA, was recognized for her exceptional leadership, collaborative spirit, and unwavering commitment to patient care, particularly in addressing the critical chemotherapy drug shortages during 2023 and 2024.

Fresenius Kabi, an operating company of Fresenius, is a global health care company with products, technologies, and services used for the therapy and care of patients with critical and chronic conditions. Fresenius Kabi is a past recipient of the FDA's Drug Shortage Assistance Award for its role in addressing drug shortages and the 2024 Drug Shortage Guardian Award, an honor bestowed annually by A4C to companies demonstrating exceptional, patient-centered actions during drug shortages.

Laura Bray, Founder and Chief Change Maker of Angels for Change, praised Lindsey’s contributions in response to drug shortages:

"Angels for Change collaborates with members of the pharmaceutical supply chains to   ensure essential medicines are where they need to be for patients and to bring about real change. The patient focused collaboration between Angels for Change and Fresenius Kabi during the chemotherapy shortages throughout 2023 and 2024 saved lives and we wanted that to be highlighted."

Lindsey Thomas played an instrumental role in Fresenius Kabi's response to the chemotherapy drug shortages, helping lead internal cross-functional teams at Fresenius Kabi to increase the production of cancer treatments to ensure patients received the care they needed.

In addition to her work addressing chemotherapy shortages, Lindsey's leadership was critical to Fresenius Kabi hosting the 2024 SummitONE conference—the nation’s only conference for supply chain leaders, policymakers, and healthcare experts dedicated to ending drug shortages.

Lindsey's extraordinary contributions in navigating supply chain challenges and ensuring timely delivery of lifesaving medicines were the key reasons for her selection as this year's Change Maker of the Year. Her leadership now places her among other distinguished recipients, such as Terri Lyle-Wilson (Children’s Hospital Association), Dan Kistner, PharmD (Vizient), and Brian Tyler (McKesson Corporation).

Laura Bray highlighted the importance of recognizing these contributions:

"Recognizing individuals for their outstanding, patient-centered work within the pharmaceutical supply chain is crucial. By showcasing exceptional efforts, we inspire further Change and build the resilient supply chain of the future."

Angels for Change remains committed to honoring and supporting healthcare professionals like Lindsey Thomas, whose work directly impacts patient lives and resolving drug shortages. Congratulations to Lindsey Thomas on this well-deserved recognition.
