Advancing Medical Nutrition: Fresenius Kabi at ESPEN 2024

The ESPEN (European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism) Congress is renowned as the most important event in the field of clinical nutrition, not only in Europe but also worldwide. This prestigious event gathers leading experts, researchers, and practitioners to discuss the latest advancements and innovations in nutritional science and therapy.

This year, the 46th ESPEN Congress in Milan (September 7-10, 2024) proudly achieved a record attendance, drawing over 4,800 participants from 128 countries. The gathering of such a diverse and extensive group underscores the congress's global impact and its pivotal role in shaping the future of clinical nutrition. 

During this year’s congress, Fresenius Kabi made a significant impact by highlighting advancements in medical nutrition. This showcased our commitment to improving patient care through our holistic expertise in enteral and parenteral nutrition, along with our innovative solutions.

In addition, our exclusive Meet the Expert sessions, held in a more private setting by invitation only, offered deeper, more detailed discussions on these topics. These sessions included the same experts as the Q&A, with Prof. Martindale joining the discussion on fish oil lipid emulsions.

A key highlight was our Satellite Symposium, Navigating Metabolic and Nutritional Pathways in Cancer Care, which explored the parallel pathways of nutrition and anti-cancer treatment along the cancer patient’s journey. The session was chaired by ESPEN Committee Chairman Prof. Stanislaw Klek and included presentations of the well renowned experts Prof. Lal, Dr. Fuchs and Dr. Montroni. The Symposium drew an overwhelming response, with over 1000 participants in total—more than 800 attending in person.

Our JUMPstart Clinical Nutrition Alumni meeting provided an excellent opportunity for past participants of our mentorship program for clinicians and researchers to reconnect, network further strengthening our community of rising experts in this field.

The ESPEN Congress not only provides a platform for sharing knowledge and innovations but also fosters collaboration and networking among professionals in the field.
